If you're new to the world of woodwick candles, it's essential to understand how to care for them properly to ensure they burn cleanly and efficiently. Here are some helpful tips to give your candle the love and care it deserves:

1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting your woodwick candle, always trim the wick to about 1/8 inch. This helps to prevent excessive smoke and ensures a steady burn. A properly trimmed wick will also enhance the crackling sound and overall ambiance. Keeping an eye on woodwicks is important. If you ever feel like your flame is too high, simply extinguish the flame, trim the wick and re-light. *Your wick has already been trimmed personally for you for your first burn :)

2. Allow Even Melting: When you first light your candle, let it burn long enough for the wax to melt evenly across the surface. This typically takes about 2-4 hours. An even melt pool prevents tunneling and allows for a longer burn time.

3. Burn Time: To maximize the lifespan of your woodwick candle, avoid burning it for more than 4 hours at a time. This helps to prevent the wick from becoming too long and ensures a clean burn.

4. Extinguishing the Flame: When it's time to put out your candle, use a candle snuffer or gently blow it out. Avoid using water, as this can cause the wax to splatter and create a mess. Never use your Luna Sense lid to trap and extinguish the flame. 

5. Store Properly: When not in use, store your woodwick candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This helps to preserve the fragrance and quality of the wax.

6. Clean the Jar: Once your candle has burned down, clean the jar thoroughly before reusing it. You can use warm, soapy water to remove any leftover wax residue. This will allow you to repurpose the jar for other uses. *Matte candles need extra special care as oils, soap and water can alter the outside look of your vessel!
